After the success of the new Godzilla movie last summer, it seemed giant monsters were making a comeback. Short Sharp Shocks Volume Two promised rampaging giants of many forms, including hummingbirds, giraffes, frogs, and even beavers.

I love a good nature-gone-awry story, so I have to admit I was disappointed in this anthology as a whole. While there are some great authors in here who have yet to write something I don’t like, most of the creatures just don’t work on a larger scale. What should be threatening falls flat, or comes across as silly.

At times, the stories were difficult to read due to the grammatical and spelling errors. The layout was confusing in a few of the stories as well.

All-in-all, this is not a terrible anthology, but it had the potential to be so much better.
