NEW & UPCOMING RELEASES

THE DEMONS OF KING SOLOMON
Edited by Aaron J. French

The highly anticipated follow-up to BookList’s Top Ten Best Horror of 2016 selection, The Gods of H.P. Lovecraft.

The Demons of King Solomon is the innovative sequel to JournalStone Publishing’s bestselling anthology The Gods of H.P. Lovecraft. This anthology explores the legendary demonic bestiary of King Solomon by bringing together popular authors in horror, occultism, and dark fantasy, including many NY Times bestsellers, as well as featuring original artwork by John Coulthart and descriptions of the demons by Richard Smoley.

The mythology of King Solomon and his Solomonic magic played a key role in the history of magic and occultism and influenced countless hautning and fantastical tales. The traditions of goëtia and grimoire owe their uniqueness to the legendary accounts of different classes, abilities, and categories of demons. Asmodeus, Belial, Abyzou, and Marchosias—these cryptic, evocative names continue to fascinate and terrify those who dare utter them.

SPECTRAL EVIDENCE
Gemma Files

For almost thirty years, Shirley Jackson Award-winning horror author Gemma Files has consistently served up tale after tale celebrating monstrosity in all its forms: the imperfect, the broken, the beautifully alien and the sadly familiar. Her characters make their own choices and take their own chances, slipping from darkness into deeper darkness yet never losing their humanity—not even when they’re anything but.

An embittered blood-servant plots revenge against the vampires who own him; a little girl’s best friend seeks to draw her into an ancient, forbidden realm; two monster-hunting sisters cross paths with an amoral holler-witch again and again, battling both mortal authorities and immortal predators. From the forgotten angels who built the cosmos to the reckless geniuses whose party drug unleashes a plague, madness, monsters and murder await at every turn. And in “The Speed of Pain,” sequel to the International Horror Guild award-winning story “The Emperor’s Old Bones,” we find that even those who can live forever can’t outrun their own crimes….

Following in the footsteps of her critically praised Kissing Carrion, The Worm in Every Heart and We Will All Go Down Together, this is the first of two new Gemma Files collections from Trepidatio Publishing, bringing together nine of her best stories from the past ten years. So whether you’re returning to Files’s dark dreamlands or visiting for the first time, we advise you to get ready to review the—

THE WILL TO KILL
Mickey Spillane and Max Allan Collins

Taking a midnight stroll along the Hudson River, Mike Hammer gets more than he bargained for: a partial corpse on an ice floe. The body is that of a butler who spent the last years of his life working for a millionaire—also now deceased—and his notoriously privileged children.

Were both master and servant murdered? Captain Pat Chambers thinks so. But to prove it Hammer must travel to upstate New York to investigate the dead man’s family, all of whom have a motive for murder, and one of whom who has a taste for it.

HARDBOILED HORROR
Edited by Jonathan Maberry

There’s something out there in the dark.

There’s always something watching.

There’s always something reaching for you.

Always.

And sometimes there’s someone you can call. Someone you can hire. Someone who knows these dark streets and back alleys. Someone who knows how things work in this part of town. Private eyes who are often as dark as the things they hunt. Investigators who know how to look in the shadows for the things that go bump. Good guys but not always nice guys.

Hardboiled Horror collects fifteen original tales of noir mystery shot through with elements of horror and the supernatural. Occult detectives, paranormal investigators, seedy P.I.s, amateur sleuths and ghost hunters tackle the cases no one else can handle.

The killer lineup includes Heather Graham, Kevin J. Anderson, Rachel Caine, Scott Sigler, Seanan McGuire Alethea Kontis, Jonathan Maberry, Chris Ryall, Dana Fredsti, Jim Beard, Jacopo della Quercia, John Gilstrap, Jon McGoran, Josh Malerman, Max Allan Collins & Matthew V. Collins, and Nancy Holder.

Edited by New York Times bestseller and five-time Bram Stoker Award winner Jonathan Maberry.

THE LEAST OF MY SCARS
Stephen Graham Jones

You haven’t heard of William Colton Hughes. Or, if you have, then you’re not telling anybody. Not telling them anything, ever. He’s not the serial killer on the news, in the textbooks. He’s the one out there still punching his card, and a few other people’s too. He is a nightmare come to life, waiting in his apartment for you to knock on his door.

William Colton Hughes is living his fantasy: his victims are delivered to his apartment every few days. But when he’s suddenly alone, no visitors, nobody to talk to but himself, he begins to lose what little of his mind he has left. Has his benefactor, his employer, been his prison warden all along? His apartment complex a hospital? Is he going to have to go back to heaving dark plastic bags into dumpsters when nobody’s looking?

Or will Dashboard Mary, a mysterious woman hell-bent on revenge, get to him first?

This is William Colton Hughes.

Come and knock on his door.
