Sublime is the second release from the Raw Feed Label. The film is nothing special, but does have certain elements from the filmmaking perspective that make it visually worthwhile. However in terms of plot, one might that the film lacks in the overall action, and seems more like a film that tries it’s best to get it’s plot across to it’s audience. But in my case it failed.

Sublime tries to be a movie in the vain of the film Identity, with a twist of hospital terror. A film such as Room 6 comes to mind simply for the evil hospital part. However Sublime is more of a psychological thriller than a horror film. And in that case it more or less tries to use it suspense in the likes of a Hitchcock film or Twilight Zone Episode.

Sublime is about a guy named George Grieves, a normal everyday family guy type, whom checks into a hospital with which seems to be a routine operation. However after he wakes up from the procedure he find that there is something wrong with the hospital he is in, that the people there and the hospital itself seem to full of evil secrets of sexual and maniacal terrors involving the staff and patients. Now unable to prove that there is something terrible going on in the hospital, George must try and convince others that there is something oddly wrong going on, however George soon realizes that the only person who know can stop it, is himself.

I give the film credit for it’s over all visuals and suspenseful like pacing. The film is well directed and the acting is pretty good. It’s the story that dissatisfied me. I found myself getting bored with the plot, there not really a lot of action sequences to keep someone like myself entertained, and I found the characters to be one dimensional and boring. The story also seemed to explain itself more though the characters rather that letting the story play out. It does play out towards the end of the film, where the film takes a big giant twist. However we’ve all seen this ending in films before, and for me it was not a surprise as to how this film concluded.

Overall, Sublime will be a hit or miss with many people, I’m sure that there will be plenty who like, as well as people like me who wanted to like it, but needed to get more from the overall story. The normal, basic horror fan will probably be terribly bored with this film, as it lacks in action and special effects. (Yes the film has very little gore.) So yes it’s a toss up. I think Sublime is more of a film for people who like a good puzzling mystery with a lot of suspense. However I feel that the smartest of people will be able to figure out the ending far before the film is over.
