When I first heard that the WWE was going to get involved in making movies I could do nothing but straight up laugh, because I knew dam well it was for the sole purpose of putting wrestlers in these movies. However my laughs have been silenced. First off “The Rock” has made his mark in action cinema history. Triple H had his little vampire part in Blade 3, and now Kane has been cast in the lead role of a God worshipping mad man in this film, “See No Evil”

So probably like many other horror fans out there, such as myself we wondered how the hell can we take this film so seriously with a guy we know as the Undertakers brother as the villain. We see him win and lose matches all the time on TV. We know he’s just an actor/athlete whom puts his body on the line to entertain us on Television each well. In a way when we see Kane we’re not scared by him. However Once again I need to eat my words, because in “See No Evil” Kane, the actor I thought would be the worst of the worst in this film, turns out to be the shining star and helps make this film work.

The story revolves around a police officer whom, on a call one day with his partner invades a house where people are said to be getting killed by a maniac, when they enter the house and all is said and done one officer dies and the other ends up with his arm cut off, but not after shooting the killer (Kane) in the head, however he does not kill the killer. Cut to a few years later and the same cop now with a fake arm is working at a prison. He is part of a project that takes non-violent criminals and puts them in a work program where the inmates can earn one month off their sentence by volunteering to help restore historical buildings. Well the prisoners along with the cop and a female officer are set up to restore “The Blackwell Hotel” However little do they know that the god fearing killer has taken refuge there, and is waiting to kill those who sin again.

While watching this film I realized a few things about the script. The film takes a lot of ideas from films such as “Psycho”, Friday the 13th, and “The People Under the Stairs”, horror fans you will be able to see where I’m coming from by watching the film. I can’t say to much without giving some of the storyline away. the second thing is that the director used a stock of film similar to the one they used for the “Saw” films, which gives it that creepy blown out look. I found the script to be a twist on all the teen films but it had a fresh story that held up, and although the storyline had that similar horror plot. The film itself holds up.

As far as acting goes, don’t expect any good performances other than the one that Kane himself give. I for one thought that he would be the one who’s acting I’d be ripping on, but in fact, Kane outshines all the actors in this film hands down. I mean don’t get me wrong the acting’s alright but Kane’s performance out shines everyone else in this film.

In terms of special effects, there is a shit storm of effects in this film. Some of the CGI is not half bad, and there are some sick and twisted make up effects, and enough blood and guts to go around. There are also some great kill scenes in this film as well. The Dog mauling is probably the sickest and twisted scene in this film, although it’s one of those scenes that’s left up to the audiences imagination more. (Just had to throw that one in there).

Overall, I liked this film, and would lean towards giving it more like three stars overall, however I think between the crazy story line and the good, but not so good acting that giving the film two and half stars is reasonable. It’s a decent story, that has an original twist, but it also has some flaws as well. I would say it’s a film worth renting on DVD.
