Oh Yeah, they made another one, and it just so happened to be that this DVD arrived on my door step this morning. The funny thing is I didn’t even know it was coming. Anyway, I’ve seen the first three films but never really cared for them much except the first film, which I found to be pretty funny. I mean seriously folks how many times can you beat one film into the ground. Sure it’s funny to see a film that makes fun of Horror, Sci-fi and Fantasy films. But do we really need a new one every year.

Scary Movie 4 is a film that has most of the original cast of the first three films. Most of them arrive in part four in cameo roles. And we get a really funny scene at the beginning of the film involving Shaq and Dr. Phil. Like the first three films, the plot revolves some of the most famous Blockbuster horror and Sci-fi films of the years past. This time around we get the infusion of comedy from films like Saw, War of the Worlds, The Village, The Grudge, and Brokeback Mountain, which we all know is a horror film to some closed minded folks if you think about it.
In terms of the whole filmmaking process, I’m going to be brief. The production value of the film is a lot better than the first three films. Better special effects, better sets, better everything. The acting is as good as can be for a film such as this. After all it’s a spoof, so you can expect much, just good old fashioned comedy with some tasteless sense of humor. We also get some pretty good make-up and CGI effects in the film as well.

The DVD is without a doubt a pretty good buy for anyone who really likes the Scary Movie franchise or just really liked this film. I got the unrated and uncensored version and believe me it chop full of extras. Enough extras to keep you busy for hours. It includes over fifteen Deleted and extended scenes, a bloopers reel, interviews and a lot more.
Overall, Scary Movie 4 was fun to watch. I really did laugh a lot, However if I looked at it in terms of a serious horror film or even a comedy it fails in more ways than one. It’s does not have that filmmaking appeal to me that a film such as the wonderfully filmed Independent horror/comedy movie “The Midnight Special” does. At least in that film I got some good filmmaking with characters that I could identify with. Scary Movie 4 seemed to just be full of cardboard characters and a handful of cameos.
