Stephen King is the one who actually should be the man to blame for making me become such a big horror fan. I’ve always enjoyed his books since I was young. I can remember as a kid watching “Cojo” and being scared of St. Bernard dogs. Now that almost everyone of his books and even short stories have been made into films, Some good and some bad. “Riding the Bullet” falls more towards the middle.

I don’t know, there are some really cool parts of the film that I found to be genuinely creepy, but then there were some scenes that felt so repetitive that I was almost falling asleep watching the film. The story is simple, it’s about a young man named Alan Parker (Jonathan Jackson) whom is away at college when he gets a phone call from his neighbor that his mother has had a stroke and he should come home ASAP. So he hits the road and begins to hitchhike his way home. As he’s hitch hiking he is picked up by a series of different people all with different stories. But he is also experiencing some disturbing visions, some that are odd and scary, and others about his childhood. However one guy he picks up named George Staub (David Arquette) is a bit crazy and seems to know everything about Alan and his family. From there the story gets crazy as Alan and George begin to fight to whom gets to his mother first.

The film is a ghost story however we really don’t know who most of them are until the film ends. In a way it’s obvious, and I’m sure many people will know who is and who is not.

As far as acting goes, the acting was not bad at all, the cast was well directed and they got the job done. The direction is pretty good as well as the production value. Some of the scenes might look a bit low budget at times but they work. The special effects are decent, there is some stuff that looked good and some that seemed like a rushed make-up job.

Overall, “Riding The Bullet” is an alright movie, I was kind of mixed about the film, but there were parts that did bore me. I think this is a film I will leave up to you guys to decide weather you like it or not. I for one thought it was alright but was leaning more towards not caring much for it.
