If you have no clue about Resident Evil and all the movies that surround this franchise that was based on the highly popular zombie video game. By first look at the box cover and this review page; you would probably be thinking that I’m reviewing the next installment of the Resident Evil video game. In fact this is actually a movie, that uses the same kind of animation that they use in the little clips you see in the video game and developed into a ninety six minute animation horror movie.

This CG Motion Picture takes place seven years after the video games tow lead character Clare Redfield and Leon Kennedy took out the G-virus and the Umbrella Corporation in Racoon City. Since then the virus has been contained, until now. While waiting in Harvardville Airport; Clare soon finds herself in the middle of a zombie attack. A man infected with the virus just got aboard a plane in India and turned into a zombie while aboard. All chaos breaks out and a plane comes crashing though the airport full or more zombies. The airport is full of them, but luckily Clare and company make it out. But that’s only half the story. Someone had bought the G-virus back into the country and is using it to attack innocent civilians. Clare and Leon must try to stop it before a whole new zombie apocalypse breaks out.

This is actually a pretty decent, well written CG movie. It expands the story of Resident Evil more, and gives the franchise a new direction. There are some pretty unique characters all with different backgrounds and a whole different set of morals. The animation was created by the artists at Capcom who also are responsible for the video games. They along with Sony pictures put this film together. The animation does resemble a lot of those mini-movies that help movie the plot along in the video games, except I think there is a finer detail to the animation in this movie than there is in the games. So it does look a little better. The voice talent and use of music is also pretty well done.

The DVD does come with a few special features. There is a first look at the new RESIDENT EVIL 5 video game. There is a featurette titled ” Generation of Degeneration”, Faux Leon Interview, Voice Bloopers, Character Profiles, and trailers. It is presented in five different languages English, Portuguese, Thai, French and Spanish, and has subtitles is English, French, Korean, Thai, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese.

Overall, this little CG movie was not half bad and it had a very complex story and was more than just a basic zombie story. It had some substance to it. While I really didn’t care much for it being an animated movie, it still told a pretty good story. For fans of the zombie genre and especially the RESIDENT EVIL franchise this is one movie that does not hold back any punches on the mayhem and carnage. It’s nothing great, but it’s fun to watch and does have a pretty decent storyline.
