It’s funny how in today’s video and low budget market that most of the horror films need to have some kind of nudity in order for a distributor to pick it up. I even had a company once tell me they would only pick up a comedy film I produced if we re-shoot as scene where one of our leads would take her top off. It’s kind of a sad thing, but it’s been going on for a while now, and back in the hey day’s of the Grind house film, the majority of the movies that were played in them involved a lot of nudity and soft-core sex.

This second disc of the two part release of Welcome to the Grind house by BCI Eclipse and Deimos Entertainment consists of two thrillers titled Pick Up and the Teacher. The Teacher is about a 28 year old hot looking teacher who screwing around with one of her young teenage students. However it’s prove fatal when a guy named “Wacko Ralph” finds out about the affair. Pick-Up is about a bunch of hippie chicks who hitch a ride with a guy named Chuck. However the trio get lost in the Florida Everglades and embark on a bizarre journey though the marshland.
The thing with me is that I really don’t enjoy films like this, plain and simple. The whole soft-core aspect of the films does nothing for me, and I honestly find it to be very boring. when you have a film that is full of one sex scene every few minutes or has sexual overtones one can only watch so much of it before they begin to yawn.

In terms of the over all screenplay for both films, I really didn’t care for either of them. Call me old fashion or too up with times but I can’t get into films like these where it’s apparent that sex is the main theme of the scripts and the stories is secondary. There is a lot of boring dialogue, and both films had me just wishing they would screw and get it over with.
The acting, directing and production value all go hand in hand, in a nutshell they were all alright, and for the type of films that we’re played in a Grind house its expected.
Overall, I’m probably not the best person to be reviewing films like these, because I simply just really don’t care for them. I understand that a lot of Grind house pictures were horror films, but some of them also consisted of bad Kung-fu and action films as well as these coming of age soft-core porn flicks. If you into these kind of films from the nineteen seventies, then you might want to rent or buy this DVD. The women are very good looking, so I don’t have any complaints about them, but I need a good story to really enjoy of film, and both of these grind house pictures don’t offer that.
