Transit Angel is a short independent film that I received in the mail not to long ago, I decided to pop it into the DVD player and check it out. Needless to say what I first saw and heard for that matter made me want to shut the film off. It looked much like a student film or a PBS special for kids with the bad cartoon like special effects at the beginning. But I held on though it. Once I got past that first scene which sets up the whole film, it’s all up from there. Yes finally a film that got better.

Transit Angel is about an angel from heaven named Faith who has to protect 3 important human beings from the demon of hell. Well from there it turns into a battle between heaven and hell and so on. The film has a great ending though, one of which I thought was pretty cool.

The acting in the film is so-so but gets better as the film goes on. The production value is bad and being shot on video does not help it at all. I reminded me of all the student films I shot on VHS in college. The special effects were nothing to brag about as I mentioned above. But the story was good and would have potential to be a better film with a bigger budget.

Overall it’s a great effort from the filmmakers working on little to no budget and pulling off a script that needs a larger budget too look good, my hats are off to them for their efforts and completing their film.
