I going to try to make this review short and sweet, I know this film got ripped on by a lot of critics, but I disagree with them. it has nothing to do with the fact that The Punisher happened to be my favorite comic book as a kid, but the fact that in some way the story touched me. My god if someone had my whole family killed, I’d do the exact same thing that Frank Castle did.
The plot is pretty simple and although the script is more of a action film than a superhero film I didn’t think it was a bad of a story as many people thought it was, in all realty if you could not guess that the whole theme of the story is revenge, then you got a problem. I loved some of the great ways The Punisher got his revenge, to me writing scenes and ideas of that nature take talent. So there, I liked this film, and I don’t care what the critics think.
Now for the violence. This film has plenty of it. Over the top fighting, a whole family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousin, little kids and baby’s being killed, well maybe not babies, but young children yes. It’s bloody and gory, especially when Frank Castle fights the Russian. So for horror fans or straight up fans of gore, the filmmakers thought about us in this film.
Overall, not only am I a big fan of the character, but I am of the story that was portrayed in this film. It’s has a really cool theme, and it’s an over neat action film.
