“The Day After Tomorrow” is one hell of a disaster film, however it’s a film we’ve all seen before. It’s from the director/writer of “Independence Day” and what we get the same format as “Independence Day” except our Huge UFO and Aliens are replaced by Massive Storms and weather related activity, and it just so happens it’s target are New York City, Los Angeles and Washington D.C., sound familiar. So what we’re getting here is the a same format film, that is very predictable.

Now I can’t say the film was terrible, the special/visual effects were absolutely wonderful, We had some alright acting, but forget about the script, the dialogue used seemed like it came from a B-movie script, very cheesy lines that made me cringe. I give Jake Gyllenhaal a lot of credit for working with such a tough script and making it look some what well, he’s one hell of an actor and look to see him in the re-release of the Directors Cut of Donnie Darko in limited release this summer in theaters.

Overall this film is great for it’s effects and it worth seeing the theaters for the chilling experience, but if your not one to go spend money in the theaters you might want to pick it up when it comes out on DVD.

And guys, it’s a great film to take a date too, your date will probably like it better than you do, and it beats the boring love stories we all get dragged too.
