Holy crap Cult epics, you sure do know how to find the films that hit those nerves. In a Glass Cage was a brutal entry into sexuality and perversion now this. The beast is surely one of those films that you just say to people, “You don’t want to watch this, you will be utterly disgusted from front to back”. Let me get into the sights of this flick.

The beast derives form century old ancestors who pass on the illness generation to generation. Matur is getting married, ancestors of the beasts back in the days. Not forgotten but left untold. Father treats his 40 year old son like a 5 year old. Doing his hair, washing him, shaving him, telling him what to do. The American Heiress arrives and the sexuality begins. Butlers are banging. The priest who shows up for the ceremony brings along his alter boys and pretty much has his way with them also. As the story progresses, the more and more we find out what happened in the legends of the beast, and in grave detail also. The story unfolds into a climax (literally) of bestiality and devastation.

I know I have been subdued by some touching cinema but never have I seen a full blown (literally) sex scene with a beast of some sort in full spurting glory. You thought the ejaculation scene in Necromantik was a little beyond bad taste? Think again my friend. Loads and loads of yummy salty goodness erupts into what has become animal lust. He has a huge wanger if you ladies would like to know and the woman involved in the love making sure has a good time doing it. Money shots, the whole kit and caboodle.
I understand it being an art film, also being derived from the Beauty and The Beast story line but sometimes it goes beyond art and into the perverse category or just plain too much for one to handle. I’ve surely seen my share of flicks, and many have had a no holds bar on them but when it dilly daddles into it this much then it goes from being arty to just plain brutal. Not that I’m saying this movie is bad, just that you tend to cringe more then indulge.

This release comes in a nice 3 disc package Disc 1 involves the director’s cut, Trailers and stills. Disc 2 showcases a biography, stills and a lost making of which was buried for over 25 years. So that is the treat of the whole thing really. Almost a whole side of Walerian working his magic on the set. Disc 3 has the complete version and lobby cards. A sweet ass rarity for cinephiles all around
