Wow, what a messed up horror flick, take “American Psycho 2”, “Misery” and add it to the Red Riding Hood Story we heard as kids, except what if The Big Bad Wolf and Red Riding hood teamed up and kicked Grandma’s ass ala “Misery” style, and went out in the middle of the night and killed more people. Well that’s what you get with this film, it’s out there ,but it works so well. I do also have to add in the fact that Red Riding Hood in this story also only kills people who sin. She’s kind of like Hannibal Lector, very smart and not easy to fool.
The movie starts off a little bit slow, but it pans out about 15 minutes in. After that we start to see some really crazy stuff happen. She ties up her grandmother and feeds her peanut butter to slow her down. (Grandma has is allergic to peanuts). and keeps her locked up in their apartment. The torture and mayhem begins with many gruesome killing, and a collection of limbs is being collected by Red Riding Hood herself.
The acting in the film is pretty good, and the style and shots used in the film work out well. The Production value is pretty decent and the script is not bad, I just though the ending was a bit much. The make-up effects are pretty good and there is enough gore to go around.
Overall I had a god time watching this film and when it becomes available to rent I think it’s well worth picking up. I think I found the first good straight to video film of the year. I had a blast watching “Red Riding Hood”.
