“Phone” is a very well produced film straight out of Korea, The film has style and class to it and is very well produced. However it’s not all that original when it comes to the plot.
Although the story is different, it’s something we all have seen before, In a nutshell “Phone” is pretty much “The Ring” and “The Grudge” thrown together with a cell phone added in-between. It’s no doubt upon viewing this film that you will clearly see the influence. However phone is just as frightening and is sure to make you jump.
The plot is pretty basic and follows the same formula and depth in story as most Asian horror films do. It’s got that pacing of an Asian film where the story goes into more detail and if not done right could sidetrack you a bit. However “Phone” for the most part stays on track. The acting is really good, and the effects and CGI are mind blowing, and a lot more realistic than most CGI used in Asia.
Overall fans of Asian Horror might want to add this one to their lists, it’s not that original and fresh, but it still pacts a good scare.
