The Glass is breaking. That’s’ not the surprising thing, the surprising thing is that it didn’t shatter when he threw me against it.

Yup, we’re right back into the word of Joe Pitt, one of the best fictional vampires ever written in my opinion, and Joe is right back into the mix of getting into trouble, and biting off more than he can chew.

Now if you have no clue who the character of Joe Pitt is, then you should probably read my review of “Already Dead” which is the first book in Charlie Hudson’s Joe Pitt series. I can’t recommend that you read “No Dominion” first without going out and buying and reading “Already Dead” first. There are a lot of things mentioned in “No Dominion” that refer back to “Already Dead”. So I would recommend that.

Anyway, No Dominion takes place a few years after Already Dead. Joe Pitt is not a very well liked person and he pretty much is, well trying to keep low key. Yeah right, this is Joe Pitt where talking about, he can’t keep himself on the down for long. He’s running out of money, and worst of all his stash of blood is very low. With no work available to him and his hard ass reputation to keep. Joe is not one to go to one of his former employers and try to make peace and get some work. However he really has no choice and decides to go and visit his old friends in the Society clan. Terry one of the leader of the Society and the guy who showed Joe the ropes is not really that happy to see Joe, but agrees to give him a job. However it’s not a simple one. There is a new drug on the street one in which is getting Vampire high, and it’s not only dangerous if taken in high doses but it’s also very addicting. Terry hires Joe to track the source of this new vampire drug. However Joe is in for one hell of a ride, one that will take him to the deepest, dangerous parts of New York City. Where around every corner their is someone that wants to make an example out of Joe Pitt.

I can honestly write for hours about this book and the character of Joe Pitt, but I don’t want to spoil the book anymore than I have too for people who want to read it. One thing I can say about No Dominion is that it deals with a lot more social issues than the first book does. We have issues with race, drugs and as in the first book, Joe Pitt’s girlfriend Evie and the health problem she has. Hudson has a way of not only creating great characters and a great story, but he also has a way of showing us the true horrors that plague our world today, and the moral issues that come with them.

No Dominion is one hell of a great sequel to Already Dead, when this book first arrived at my house last week I opened up and starting reading it right out of the box. Joe Pitt has grown on me and is on his way to be coming one of the best anti-hero’s of all time. His no nonsense attitude and his sly and arrogant ways, make him one of the best hard asses in fiction history. I can’t begin to express how much I love this character and these book. Alright Charlie Hudson, let’s get a move on the next book in this series. I can’t wait.

Overall, Charile Hudson has created one of the best Vampire series ever. A true crime thriller masterpiece full of great twists and turns. No Dominion is one well worth picking up, But read Already Dead first. Joe Pitt is to adults, what Harry Potter is to kids. And with the Joe Pitt series on the rise, I advise everyone to go and buy no only both of the books in the series, but the ones to come as well.
