For some reason I could not get into this film at all, In fact looking beyond all the gore and cool looking effects of this film I found the story to be quite boring. It’s kind of like the Asian version “House of Wax” in a way. the story are not that similar really but their not that all far a part.
The story revolves around Marino who has a marronnier doll that she really likes. However she does not know that the creator of the dolls is an evil man named Numai, who uses diabolical machines to turn human victims into wax dolls. he begins to stalk Marino and begins to turn her friends into living marronnier dolls whom he lets loose to start killing everyone that crosses their path.
The story may sound good but it was not that great, I kind of got bored with the film and was happy that it ended pretty quickly, (It’s only 80 minutes long). I think the problem is that I noticed too many Asian film as of late that have a very soft look and feel to the film. I almost feel like I can’t see and understand the film that much, because the picture looks so dam blurry sometimes I feel like I need a pair of glasses to see what’s going on.
The acting was alright, pretty basic stuff here nothing really great, but nonetheless convincing. The special make-up effects were decent, the dolls were pretty creepy looking and reminded me of those dam clown dolls my mom had in my room when I was a kid. Dam I hated those things.
Overall, I was not that big of a fan of this film and can’t say I would recommend it to other horror fans. However if your a big Asian horror fan or have a thing for killer dolls, you might just enjoy this flick.
