After weeks of passing this by on video shelves in my local video store, and my sister and brother in law telling me I have to see this film, I finally decided to pick it up. As I’ve learned a great box cover can get any movie rented so I don’t usually go by the box covers anymore. However “Close Your Eyes” has some great things about it where it would fit into the category of a Hollywood film that could of been in theaters but just did not make it in. The film Stars Goran Visnjic and Miranda Otto of “Lord of the Rings” fame.
The film is about a small girl named Heather who manages to escape from a ritualistic child Murder in the area. After fleeing him she is unable to speak at all and unable to help the police catch this killer. In comes a Doctor who has the power of hypnosis on his side and is able to unlock al l the mysteries in Heather’s mind. However the doctor also develops a psychic ability that connects him with Heather and the Killer.
“Close Your Eyes” is a very well produced film, it has some decent production value and the acting is pretty good. There is some great CGI and an makeup effect in the film that really help the film visually. The directing is good and does help the actor peck at their performances. The script is also pretty good, but the final climax of the film is fast and not all that dramatic. The ending was also predicable but it worked for me.
Overall in this short review I’d say that “Close Your Eyes” is well worth checking out. It has kind of a “Sixth Sense” meets “Se7en”. well worth watching in my opinion.
