“Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid” is the sequel to the semi 90’s hit Anaconda, which had a young Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and many other up and coming stars. The first film was full of cool effects and big giant snakes. Well for the sequel, we have the giant snakes but not the big stars, matter in fact there are no stars at all. The cast consists of group of unknown actors, and weather or not this sequel will help launch their careers as the first film did is yet to be determined, but something tells me that might not happen.

The film is very similar in plot to the first one, a group of people, (In the sequel scientists and researchers .) go into the jungles to find a rare blood orchid which holds the key to extending the life of a human being. ( And as we find out animals and snakes too.) Well just like the first film it turns into a snakes vs. human war in the jungle with the anaconda eating most of the characters.

Comparing this sequel to the first one is a far cry from hell, the sequel has nothing on the fist film except for maybe the beauty of the jungles. The acting is alright, and I’m being nice when I say it was alright. The screenplay was alright as well, but hey it’s a creature/monster film, they are meant to be cheesy and fun. As for the effects, well I liked the snakes in the first film better. We had less effects than the first film, well at least cooler effects such as a full body falling from a snakes gut like they did in the first film.

Overall “Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid” is a fun movie that no horror fan should take seriously as a work of art. It’s a fun creature feature, maybe not worth seeing in theaters but worth renting when it hits video shelves.
