“Charlie Huston’s” “Already Dead” is a masterpiece in vampire literature. I for one absolutely loved this book. Now I’m not one to read books that are about vampires and what they do and so on… Personally I was never able to get into some of Anne Rice’s work and most people would say that “Interview with a Vampire” is the best vampire novel ever written next to “Bran Stockers Dracula” I for one disagree and think that this book, “Already Dead” is not only better than “Interview with a Vampire”, but has overall better characters and has a much more involved plot.

I honestly don’t know where to begin, It’s pretty obvious that lately I’ve been giving every book I read a great review, the reason is that I just pick good books to read. However “Already Dead” has probably one of the best horror fiction vampire character ever to grace the written page. This character goes by the name of Joe Pitt, a bad ass vampire who in all terms of anything just does not give a fuck. Plan and simple this character make Ash of the “Evil Dead” series look like a girl scout. Joe Pitt is a vampire who has morals about killing random victims for the thirst of blood, he much rather just “tap his victims and steal a pint or two from them, instead of infect them with the virus he’s cursed with or just drain them of life. He is a character with conscious, however when it comes to getting in his way or doing him or someone he care for wrong, he becomes the meanest S.O.B you’ll ever meet. Joe Pitt is a freelance Vampire for hire, he does not belong to a clan, but rather works for the highest bidder. However in this book it seems that being a freelance only lands him in more trouble than he can ask for. But he’s one bad Motherfu*ker, and he don’t care if he lives or dies defending what he believes is right and wrong.

Now I don’t want to give the plot away, all I can say is that I want a sequel to this book, I absolutory feel for this character, because I at one time could relate to him. Joe Pitt as I said above is one hell of an anti-hero. I can’t say it any better, I love this book, and Charlie Hudson if you ever read this, write a sequel. People if your into films or books that have the best anti- heroes such as “Ash” or “Mad Max” you’ll really get into this book. It is by far the best vampire story I have ever read. Now please someone pick up the rights and make this book into a movie.

People if you like vampires and are into great horror hero’s this in one book you must, I mean must read.
