Alien vs. Predator was a film that had to explain more than the nit really did, if you were not a fan of both the Alien and Predator series you might have a hard time understanding the whole history of both film series. So I strongly recommend picking up the Alien films and Predator films on DVD before going to see this one.
My review is kind of complexed I did like Alien vs. Predator but there were a lot of things I didn’t like. the film started off very fast and I was thought good no bullshit, it’s going to be straight to the point, but no we had a whole complexed meeting of the characters and their trip to the icy fortress under ground. I mean it helped with the character development, but not much, some of the characters were one dimensional and we never really got to know them that well. We had some human characters I did not want to see die in the film as they were character I felt for. and they did. Another problem ZI had was we had to much human screen time and less Alien/Predator screen time. I wanted to really just see a big fight between the two. I honestly would of been happy with a dialogue free film and just had the aliens and the predators fighting it out, or better yet a subtitled film with communication going on between the predators. But that would never happen.
What I did like about the film was that the special effects looked great, I mean they looked out of this world good. The Aliens looked real, The Predators looked real, and the set design and visual effects were just plan awesome, well worth the money I paid. The acting was alright, nothing really worth paying attention to, I mean it’s a sci-fi film between two kinds of aliens who barely speak, so who cared about the acting with the human parts. The script was alright, could of been a bit more action packed, but I guess the budget probably prevented more action from happening. But we did get some great fight scenes between the two alien species.
Overall it’s worth seeing just for the plan fun of it, it has some great scares and a fun story, its not going to be a film that major film buff’s are going to love, but it’s a fun packed scary horror sci-fi film worth seeing for the action and effects.
