It’s good to see that there are some independent film makers out there, that can come up with good original ideas. The Last Horror Movie is fresh, and takes a different approach to horror with a documentary feel to it. Now it’s not The Blair Witch style of filmmaking really, this film is shot with a bit more of a professional look, without looking to professional. In other words, for the most part you know what your watching.

The idea behind the film is original, we follow a serial killer and his camera man buddy on a rampage, and kind of a “how to” video of his killings, and the art of killing people. It is kind of a disturbing film, however it knows it’s limits and some of the more brutal scenes are cut away from by the wimpy cameraman, (Whom we learn later does not have the guts to really do anyone in). who tends to let the sound of the film make you use your imagination more. Now don’t get me wrong the film does have some brutal scenes that involve blood and gore, but it’s a film that knows it limits.

I’m kind of mixed about the film however, as after a while the film just becomes repetitive and is more like broken record repeating itself. It’s just one different killing after another and so on. The script is alright, it can be slow at times but it managed to keep my attention. The acting is just alright, At times it did not seem so believable to me, it just seemed that the killer was way to mellow at times when he gave us his speeches and little pep talks. The effects were pretty decent but nothing special.

Overall I’m mixed on this one, some good shocking moments but nothing that will make jump, the torture of the victims are disturbing, but the ending of the film I don’t think is going to have you looking at your windows at night scared.
