Dear North American Motion Pictures,
Whatever deal or contract you have with director Ulli Lommel, please do us a favor and burn it.
Seriously, when you give someone money to invest in one of your scripts, use the money to make a good movie that at least gives the public the impression that you intended to make a film with the smallest bit of quality. I’m not one to attack film-makers, but this film, Night Stalker is beyond horrific. The last film I saw of Ulli Lommel’s was BASELINE KILLER which I consider to be the worst film I have ever seen in my entire life. Night Stalker is just as bad.
Night Stalker is about. . . . Hell, I really don’t know what it’s about. It is just some dumb young kid babbling to himself about– and cursing an awful lot about– how he hates people and hates women and their smelly vaginas. It’s supposed to be about serial killer Ricardo Muñoz Ramírez, but for all I know, it could have been about that creepy kid who sat in the back of class in school stabbing himself in the wrist with a pencil. The film is so out of place with odd editing flashes and shots that don’t cut together well, that I really had no clue where the hell the story was going, just that it was about some young crazy guy killing random people and talking like a depressed Gothic poet.
Honestly folks, I try to sit though every movie I watch no matter how bad it is. I shut this one off after about a half hour. It’s a film that looks like it was shot using a VHS camera. Everything, from the shots to the editing, is horrid. There simply was no effort put into this movie. It’s one of those films that was simply made to mislead the viewer at the rental store with its pretty box cover only to be shut off by the normal moviegoer within the first ten minutes of watching it.
I have wasted enough time writing about this film, and I really don’t like ripping on filmmakers, But when shit like this sees the light of day in movie rental stores and I see talented filmmakers with great scripts struggling to get their films made, this makes me wonder about the film business as a whole.
Unless you are suicidal, or like to torture yourself, stay away from this film. Honestly it’s one of the worst films you’ll ever see in your entire life.
