You know that creepy guy in high school who’s about the same age as you, but is very overweight, balding and looks like he’s forty. You know, that guy, he wears flannel shirts, tries to act real smart, and smells like beer nuts and ass. That’s who Otis the main villain in this film reminds me of. I can think of a few people I knew in my life time that were just as creepy and scary looking as this guy. They always would stare at all the hot girls in school and make them feel uncomfortable. Otis is that guy, really freaking creepy, that’s alI have to say. Ok, honestly he reminds me of someone I know.

Anyway OTIS is about this creepy guy named OTIS who captures girls and keeps them in a hidden room in his house in order to break them, to going into the prom with them. He puts his victims though a series of event and role plays in order to live out his bizarre fantasy. However OTIS Kidnapped the wrong girl and now her family wants her back, and with a truck full of deadly weapons and are out to get their daughter back at all costs.

OTIS has a brilliant script mixed with both horror and comedy. The character development and plot outline are pretty good and it’s almost like your watching a film that was written by the likes John Waters or Kevin Smith. It has that odd sense of humor but with a twisty odd horror/gore thing going on. It’s a twisted script that is a bit over the top but it works with a perfectly even flow.

The film has an all star cast which includes, Illeana Douglas, Kevin Pollak, Jere Burns, Daniel Stern, Ashley Johnson and Bostin Christopher as OTIS. The acting is pretty good in this film all around. Illeana Douglas and Daniel Stern are great together as the parents of Ashley Johnson’s character Reilly. The two along with actor Jared Kusnitz who plays their son in the film, really give a great and comical performance, especially in the second half of the film. Bostin Christopher was very good as OTIS and really creeped me out big time. Overall, the cast in this film is very good.

OTIS has overall very good production value. The set design is really good, especially that of Otis’s house and his torture chamber in his basement. Also the costume design is really good as well, especially the costumes used by Otis. The style in which the film is shot almost reminds me of a made for television horror film, mainly because of the look and style, but it does not compromise the look of the film but instead gives the film the look it needs to relay the story better. It a nutshell, OTIS is a very well rounded film.

Overall, OTIS is a bit of a surprise, and is a film that I’m surprised did not get more theatrical attention. It’s a funny, yet horrific kind of movie, that does not really get to much into the gory side of things but does give the average gore fan something to bite on. Pretty much it’s a well rounded film, that give every fan of the genre something to crew on.

The DVD has a lot of special features which includes an alternate ending titled The Birthday Party, Commentary by director Tony Krantz and writer Erik Jendresen, The Twisted World of Otis Featurette, Additional Scene 16 and of course trailers to Raw Feeds films available and to come.
