Can we get through with all the Evil Dead linking’s? Or using Blair Witch for its influence? Apparently not because they keep coming in the truck loads. You know what though, when done properly, it can be pulled off as quite effectively. Especially when the Raimi cam flies through the forest with eerie noises which always follow. Or talking to the camera as if we are on the road to something factious. Something around the next corner will be caught on live video. All this said and done, Off The Beaten path go in the right directions.

In Gateway, the legends are true. According to this documentary / movie what you see is real. A group of filmmakers take on the risk of checking into Gateway and exploring all its vast forestry and stumbling into what could very well be the scariest last nights on earth for them. The video showcases them from getting into Gateway, coming into the property which all evil has happened and filming their last endeavors.

Sure it’s a rip off all that has been ripped 10 times over but when done right you still get a fuzzy feeling of solitude and curiosity. As if your watching Blair witch, Last Broadcast or Legend Of Bogey Creek over again. What will happen, you see it “actually happen” and the realness of video gives you shivers up and down your spine. The music and scoring is also a good feature on this first full length movie. From John Stoker and It Lives Within…… Giving the added overall effect it’s desired consistency. Tons of behind the scene make this DVD worth the purchase and viewing. Can’t wait to see what’s in the near future from Not For The Squeamish Productions.
