Just because I might have a film signed with the same company that got Tropix it’s distribution does not mean I have to like the film. Right? Well opinions are like assholes like every knows and this asshole (me) has one about this film.
Tropix reminded me of a bad Lifetime Network movie, it has all the crazy storyline with a voiceover of the female lead telling us about her life. It had it cool good guy/ bad guy or bad guy / bad guy/ good girl or whatever, (It’s not as confusing as I’m making it sound.) story going on. it a nutshell it’s not a horror film, more of a thriller that involves killing, guns and tropical islands, and well a jungle also.
Overall it seemed like a film that you have to be a certain kind of fan to like, it did not appeal to me at all, but I sat though it. Tropix is really more of a chic flick than anything, some may consider it a throwback to the bikini babe films of the fifty’s and sixty’s, but it’s no ‘Psycho Beach Party”. Overall, acting was alright, story was not my cup of tea, production value was good, but still not my cup of tea. So in a nutshell it’s a film that maybe feminists and college girls would enjoy at their sorority popcorn parties. But as for me and probably most horror fans it’s not something we’re going to be into.
