When I first popped the VHS copy of “Corpses are Forever” into my VCR, and saw the first scene was shot in black and white, I was like great another shot on video movie where they want me to believe it’s on film, Then I realized that the scene was just a dream sequence and then it went to color, and then I realized that wow it was shot on film. That was a first plus for me, I have more respect for movies shot on film cause I know how much harder it is to shoot on film compared to video. Anyway, the film starts off a little slow, then begins to pick up. The Zombie effects were pretty good, I mean for low budget it looked like Tom Savini’s zombie in “Dawn of the Dead”. The story is great, it’s a spin off of James Bond stuck in the living dead films while trying to fight the devil. Yeah it’s odd but trust me it works and there is some great comedy that incorporates lines and scenes from other great horror films, One of which is a guy who has a walkman on and he’s listening to the “Day of the Dead” radio ad, pretty funny.
As far as plot goes, it works it’s sometime confusing but about halfway though the film you’ll know what’s going on. The acting was alright, but you never can expect much from a low budget film, Some actors you know have been in the business for a while and other’s you can tell are new to the world of acting. The script is good and not to mention very funny at times. Overall horror fans and especially fans of zombie movies must get there hands on this film, It’s a great low budget flick. Don’t be surprised if you see this one on your video store shelves sometime soon.
