The Tooth Fairy as we all know is a legend will tell little kids about when they lose their teeth, usually the tooth fairy brings them money for their baby teeth. However over the past few years there have been plenty of horror films that depict the tooth fairy as an evil source that wants to kill children. This film however, although titled the tooth fairy this film is more based on a legend of a women who is horribly disfigured and pretty much is considered a witch by the locals. She lures young children to her home by sending them notes telling them she’ll give them gifts for their baby teeth. However once they visit her, she kills them.

What I explained above is pretty much what we learn about the tooth fairy in the first five minutes of the film. Fast forward into the future and the witch is no longer around, or so we’re thought to believe. The house she once lived in is being turned into a Bed & Breakfast and it seems that the new owner and his friends are the only ones happy about it as it seems the locals don’t care for it at all. Enters a young girl and her mother, and that’s when things start to get crazy. As the young girl who on the verge of losing her last tooth, and the tooth fairy wants it.

With this film it’s not really a bad movie or a good a one, its kind of just a plan ordinary horror film, that just plan alright. I mean the plot is decent, and easy to follow but the film has it flaws here and there. The acting is decent, as well as the production value. There are some really good kill scenes, that involve quite a few decapitations and limbs being chopped off, young kids being killed, and a guy who goes though a wood chipper. However even with all that, we do get some effects that look really bad. Such is with the witch herself, while the make-up effects are not bad at the beginning of the film, towards the end you can tell that the witch is just wearing a mask. It looks very unrealistic and it took away the mood of the film for me.

Overall, The Tooth Fairy is a decent film, one which will definitely scare the pants off of any kid who’s about to lose their teeth. But as for us older folks, it’s nothing better than just an alright horror film, the story is enjoyable, but it’s nothing spectacular. Probably well worth buying to scare the pants off your young kids, but would probably just be worth renting from the video store, if there is nothing better to rent.
