Well as many of you know I hate getting home video footage, and that’s pretty much the way this film starts out. At first I thought their might of been a mix-up between the DVD’s and that the producer of this film might of sent me his own home video’s by mistake. Well turns out he didn’t and as I managed to sit though the first part of the film I found that it was in fact a movie and not a home video. Now to say I sat though the whole film would be a lie, I didn’t sit though the whole thing because I got bored after a while. Simply what it comes down to is that “Underground Vampires” is not my kind of film. It has an artistic approach to it and the filmmakers seemed to be experimenting with the film.
There was not much in the way of real special effects, there were some make-up effects involving what were noticeably fake vampire teeth, I can’t say they were anything special. The acting was not that bad considering the low production value and the environment the actors were working in. I’m not really sure if the script was a full screenplay or if most of the story was ad-libbed, it was hard for me to tell.
Overall I’d say that “Underground Vampires” is a pretty good effort at making an artistic vampire film, but I can’t see it hitting a video store near you anytime soon. I don’t think it has what it takes to be a video release in a major market, but it might find a following though film festivals and the internet.
