When the name Luigi comes up I begin to wet my panties. Oh, you know that movie. That movie with Ian (Zombie) McCulloch. The one with the alien eggs. The one with the exploding chests that seem to flap gore in your face like a moist towel. Contamination ring a bell? with the almighty Goblin score which I would say is one of their best by far. Others include Paganinni Horror, Nosferatu a Veniza, and this long lost Giallo. Wow, I’ve been blessed with great movies lately, this one especially. A little on the slow side but not a problem considering the Italian styled Yellows are some of the best suspense horror ever. Camera and sets are most important in these flavors of red, well Technicolor my good friend.
George Hilton plays a money hungry lady hater. She wants to leave but he wont let. He just wont have that. A side story involves and savage and careless serial murderer going through one of his routine killings when just by chance, George finds himself in direct view of a homicide in the making. Good for him since he wants to rid himself of his excess luggage if you know what I mean. He blackmails his new friend into ridding the ole hag of his back. We’ll do this and this and that and it will be all good. Something happens in the plan and array it goes. What happened to his wife, she’s dead but where is she going. A manhunt ensues into a finale bloodbath of sleek and styled proportions. I’m not one for giving out endings so just from what I’ve wrote anyways should give you ample enough motivation to purchase this classic slab of tasty treats.
What I like most about this film is the music, an early Italian progressive rock jazz by Nando De Luca which truly gives the movie that piece de resistance. Interview with Luigi, Transfer is immaculate in a 2.35:1 screen. For the music alone, I’m sold.
