I must say I was a bit disappointed the way this film turned out, I really thought it was going to be just as good as “Pirates of the Caribbean”, being a popular Disney ride and everything, The trailers looked very promising. Well I was wrong, “Pirates of the Caribbean” was excellent, and “The Haunted Mansion” is way below any of my expectations. I must admit, I did not care much for the film. The story was kind of boring and I was hoping for it to be more of a comedy when the only comedy in the film was just coming out of Eddie Murphy mouth, everyone else in the film was so dam serious all the time, that the movie seemed more serious than fun. Rick Bakers special effects were pretty good and the sets and production value were great. But the plot was boring and not fun at all, The movie seemed to be struggling over weather to be a serious thriller or a fun horror comedy. My advice is to wait until video if you really want to see it. Just like “Pirates of the Caribbean” it does have many things involved that you will notice from the ride, however it’s not as good film, as “Pirates” was.
