You know I get films like this all the time in the mail, I can’t say that I really like them, mainly because it was shot on digital and the production value is not that great, I feel like shutting them off. Well needless to say I felt the same about this film, but on a different level.
I of course know that low budget films are not going to be great when it comes to acting, production value and so on. However the filmmakers behind this film do show some promise. Ok so maybe this is bad in my opinion, but the strive to put this film together and the fact that the filmmakers had some good shots (and yeah there were some shots that made me shake my head.), they got some props and locations that would be hard for any low budget filmmaker to get, and the fact that their idea was huge and they tried to the best of their ability to make it look good with what they had. I can’t say I liked the film, but my hats off to the people behind it.
Now as far as the story goes, it’s weird, there were times I had no clue what was going on. It was confusing, yet had this odd weirdness to it that just made it cool. A film that comes to mind is “Horror” that’s kind of the weirdness of this film. If you’ve seen “Horror” (Available though Elite Entertainment), you’ll know what I’m talking about. So overall even though this is not much of what I would call a review, Night for Nixie is odd and strange, but has some potential. Probably would be a better film with a bigger budget, but then again so would any other low budget film.
