I have a lot to say about “Machined”, a film that is not even available yet, but yet the trailer and buzz on the internet for the film seem to be helping “Machined” get the buzz it needs. If you haven’t seen the trailer you can view it on the official website for the film above. It’s one hell of a great trailer.

The story is simple yet strange. Without going to much into the plot, I’ll stick with the basics. The film is about a crazy serial killer whom happens to be a mechanic living out in the desert. He gets off on masturbating to newspaper articles about his killing or viewing other people kill other people and so on. Well his victims usually find their way to him and his garage, where he ends up doing what he wishes with them. However on his way out one night he hits and injures a nearby motorist whom is having car trouble. Not knowing what to do with him, he takes him back to his shop and fixes him up. Not so much a fix up of setting a few bones and putting on some Band-Aids. No with a few drugs and a Machine like suit, he turns this guy from a lonely traveler into Darth Vader. (Sorry had to say it.) The both then go on a killing spree right inside their own home killing any one who comes looking for help with their cars.

The plot is a bit crazy, there is a lot going on and plenty of characters are coming and going, there’s not much of a character development for many of the victims as they are introduced and quickly killed. However are most developed character is Dan the mechanic, whom is the fat baldheaded killer of the film. He is like “Otis” from “House of 1000 Corpses” and Drayton Sawyer from Texas Chainsaw Massacre all thrown into a balding fat man. As far as Acting goes, the leads and most of the victims were pretty good. Some of the victims acting was a bit dull and seemed scripted. Not sure if it was just a bad day on the set or just the way the scene was, but nonetheless I found the acting dull in one particular scene.

The production value was great, being a low budget film, Machined manages to hit us with some spooky sets and effects. The locations for this film were great, and really help the film get it’s feel. The Special Effects were decent, I’ve seen better in other Indie films but they work here and are believable enough to make the film work.

Overall “Machined” is a great Indie film, A Great and Scary Independent masterpiece that is sure to at least hit video shelves. I have no doubt in my mind that “Machined” will be picked up by a major distributor of Indie films in video stores, It has more than what it takes to make it into Blockbuster Video and other video chains. Once the producers are ready to shop this film, I’m sure it will be picked up right away and be made available within the near future. Keep and eye out for this one.
