Well folks, take a look at the box cover. Ok looks pretty good, huh? Well let me give this film it’s first compliment. What you see on the box is what you get in the film, which we all know these days never happens with all the direct to DVD horror films. However “Live Feed” still has the feel of a low budget independent film. Which in turn means it has it’s flaws.

Live Feed is about a group of twenty something year old people whom take a trip to an Asian country, (My screener tended to skip a lot so I’m not really sure where in Asia.) While hanging out in a club one of the guys of the crew bumps into a very powerful mob boss and begins to talk some crap. After being calmed down by Miles, (an undercover cop trying to avenge his brothers death.) The group leaves the club unharmed. However their need to party more lands them in a sleazy porn palace. While there the group decides to do some drugs, watch some porn and have sex with one another. Little do they know that the place is owned by the same mobsters that they stumbled into earlier. And that this porn palace is actually a butcher shop, where the mob enjoys watching victims be killed live on a movie screen, and then are served their remains to eat, while watching the next victim die. What we get is a film that kind of mixes Asian horror, with the likes of Eli Roth’s Hostel and the cannibalism of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I’m kind of mixed about this film, first and foremost it really reminded me of a rip-off of Hostel. However saying so would be unfair as both films seemed to be made around the same time. My problem really revolved around the scratched screener that was sent to me, Kind of pissed me off, however it was not that bad, and I was able to make out what was going on, as the film is very predictable. My main problem was with the production value. The film was set up in such a sleazy place full of porn and all that comes with it. However the lighting was very bad and the film seemed at times to dark to make out the action. Also the use of shot were very confusing and the editing was very choppy, which made the film seem all over the place. I felt that the action was too much at times and very little at other points in the film. Which in return really affected the over pacing of the film.

The acting is decent, I really can’t complain, it was not half bad. The directing was decent as well, although I thought things the film could of been put together tighter as I stated above. In a nut shell the overall dialogue and delivery was decent. I have no complaints. As far as special effects and the overall gore go, well lets say we get more than a handful of blood, guts and gore. We get some pretty decent effects, some of which may be a bit over the top, but overall are not that bad looking. We get some pretty original kills, some of which are pretty brutal. There is also a scene which involves a dog being killed by a butcher. I don’t think the filmmakers really killed a dog, but it sure as hell puts you on edge when watching the scene. I have a friend who used to live in Asia and he said their are people who do eat dogs and cats, and yes you can get them fresh at a meat market.

Overall, Live Feed is alright. It’s an over the top horror film that can also be considered an extreme exploitation film. There is a lot of nudity and a lot of blood to go around. But in my opinion it has it’s up and downs, which just makes it an alright movie. Still I’m sure gorehounds and fans of Asian horror will like this flick.
