Well first off “House of the Dead” was better than I expected it to be, but I have more negative things to say about it than good things unfortunately. First off what I did like about the film was the setting and the story, the zombie action and shoot up gore fest. It’s an overall horror film that has what every film needs, nude babes, zombies, gore, blood and more gore. The action scenes though are pretty cool, that why I gave the film one star Also there was a cool line in the film that was a tribute to George Romero, which I though was pretty cool.
So what did I not like about this film, well a lot of things. First off the acting was kind of bad, I mean some of the actors were ok, but most of the time it was just plan bad. The editing drove me crazy, it was an MTV style of editing and there were some cuts that involved clips of the video game before going back into the scene, that drove me crazy. To me it seemed like a way to just cover up a bad cut. I also did not care for much of the way the film followed the video game, like when some one got killed in the movie there would be a freeze frame of the person, then the frame would turn red around them. Kind of saw it as being pointless and it made me restless as I just wanted the action to continue.
Overall a fun action film but not a masterpiece. The horror and gore are pretty good and I think the average horror fan might enjoy it. But the hardcore fans will not really care for this film, It’s not the kind of zombie film that most hardcore fans will enjoy.
