The Asylum is a fairly new company in the straight to video horror market, as of late I have not been very impressed with what I have seen, but “Death Valley: The Revenge of Bloody Bill” is a step in the right direction, now it was not by any means a good film but it was not bad either. it’s one of those straight to video horror films that you can actually sit though and watch and not be bored out of your mind.
I enjoyed for the most part the acting in the film although some of you may disagree I thought with the script they had to work with we had some good actors in this film, Gregory Bastien who played Earl stood out the most and I though his performance was great, as well as Chelsea Jean whom played Gwen.
The script was alright, mainly what bothered me about the whole film was that it was shot like one big music video. And the same songs being repeated over and over again during the action scenes took the scare out of the film for me. The sundown feel of the whole film also took away from the scare. I did not find it to be a scary film, and their were some parts that I just straight out laughed at. Mainly the little kids eating dinner while someone is getting killed and the little girl talking like a demons, I loved it, but it was funny as hell.
The effect look kind of cheap, we had some decent zombie make-up and some great gore, but Bloody Bill look a bit cheap almost as if he had a mask on, but then their were some scenes where the effects looked awesome. plenty of blood and guts in this one folks.
Overall, it’s a decent flick, some parts can get annoying but the story moves and for what it’s worth it works. Worth renting if their no other horror films worth renting in your video store
