My Review of Duel
After watching Steven Spielberg’s first film “Duel” based on the Richard Matheson novel, I can tell where some of the latest car chase films such as “Joy Ride” got their idea.
Duel is a great film that uses fast cuts and high paced action to tell the story rather than blown out long dialogue scenes. The movie follows one man who is just trying to get somewhere for business related reasons, when he passes a truck going slow on the road, well from there the crazy unknown driver of the truck hunts down our main character throughout the rural landscape making his trip a living hell.
After watching Duel you can see how great of a director Spielberg was then, his great use of camera angles and amazing ability to tell the story though action instead of words works really great. We have some great acting, and great effects for the time the film was made. Overall “Duel” is a must have for any fan of the great Steven Spielberg. It really shows the greatness of him as a director from the very beginning.
