It seems there is a new tread of horror/war flicks, last month we had “The Bunker” (Review) come out last month, and now we have “Deathwatch”, which I liked a lot better. Deathwatch has a really great story and a great cast which includes Andy Serkis (Gollum from “Lord of the Rings” trilogy).
The story revolves around a handful of Survivors from Y-company who take refuge in an abandoned enemy trench, however as the company tries to make a call using a crystal radio to be rescued, they son discover that the trench has demons of it’s own and won’t let no one escape.
I watched this film really late at night and I was tired as hell but it had such a great story that I had to stay up and watch the whole thing. The characterization is awesome each character has a story of their own. the story is spooky and great, the shots are awesome and the mood and production value kind of reminds me of the Hellraiser films. The Directing is awesome and the effects are great.
Overall “Deathwatch” is a great film and well worth renting. One of the best horror/war flicks I’ve ever seen. Check it out.
