When this title first arrived at my front door, I thought it was the cannibal film titled “Dead Meat” which stars Ron Jeremy, turns out that it is actually a zombie flick from the U.K., so I figured hey it’s a zombie flick, can’t be all that bad. Well folks in a nutshell it’d not a bad zombie flick, but it fails at being a great one. Let’s face it folks. Zombie films need a good story in order to make a good watch. They need over the top action and some really good characters. This film I felt lacked in both departments.
So what did I myself think of the script? I though where the script lacked the most was with it’s setting and it characters. I felt the characters were to one dimensional and I found them to just be boring, pretty much in a nutshell I felt that I, myself could not relate to them at all, and this effected my inability to really get into this film. The story was slow, way to slow and I had a hard time keeping my eyes open watching it, in fact I might of even nodded off a bit. I just thought that the plot was a bit all over the place, and the character development was dull.
On the acting not much can be said, I think the actors did the best job they could do, this film after all is an independent film that was shot in Ireland, and with low budget scripts that give the actors only a little bit if not any time to review and rehearse the script. So the acting is ok, but it’s nothing great.
In terms of effects, Well! There not that bad, but there nothing great either. I mean how many times have we’ve seen a zombie flick were the zombie make up looks like someone just took a key lime pie and mashed it into the actors face, I guess all you effect guys know what I mean, the make-up just looked to piled on some of the zombies in this film, while other’s looked great.
Overall I think the only thing I really liked about this film was the killer cows. I mean when you see a cow eating a human it’s just funny, being that most of us eat cows everyday. There are a few good scenes in this film, but not enough to win me over. So overall I did not really care much for this zombie flick as I feel it fails to catch the true feel of a great zombie film.
