Sometimes there are just some films that you just need to sit down, shut up and just enjoy them for what their worth no matter how bad they are. “Ice Queen” is one of those films. I is far from a great film, the script is very dull and the film drags along with a very slow plot.

“Ice Queen” has all the basic’s needed to make a direct to video horror film; hot girls, nude girls, some blood and a monster. Now I have no clue what the budget was on this film, but as far as production value went the film looked pretty decent. It had a lot of effects in it, some of which looked fake, but over all it’s a horror film that you might be able to get though based on it’s production value and glossy look. However on the other hand the films flaws might out weight anyone who watches a lot of films.

The acting in “Ice Queen” is not the best, but it’s not the worse acting you’ll ever see either. It’s alright, and pretty basic. Most of the roles seemed to be type cast, so the actors pretty much had to play themselves, however the role of the ice queen herself seemed strange, I really couldn’t tell if she was played by a women or a man. The make-up effects were pretty cool, but I really felt that the ice queen really looked more like a male than female. Now talking about the films effects, I don’t know how they did all that they did with a such a low budget, we get a major avalanche, a plane crash, a resort full of snow and so on. Although some of the CGI looked obviously fake on most of the wide and establishing shot in the film. The filmmakers did a good job at fooling the audience into believing that all of these scenes really happened. Great set design is what should be credited for the decent effects.

Overall from my point of view, I was not really feeling the film as being something great, the editing and plot was all over the place and the story was not tight enough for me to actually enjoy the film. I’m sure plenty of high school kids having sleepovers and watching horror films might get a kick out of it, but as far a true horror fans go, I don’t think it’s going to be a film that everyone will talk about.
