HORROR BOB'S TOP TEN OF 2007 |
 |
1 |
The Girl Next Door :
Director: Gregory
Wilson This
film scared the shit out of me and is probably the most
disturbing film I've seen this decade. It affected me on the
level that might not affect anyone who is not a parent, but on
an emotionally level as a parent myself my biggest fear is my
wife and I dying and leaving my children parentless. In
the case of this film the young girls are left with a crazy
mother and her crazy children who would rather torture these
girls who just lost their parents than comfort and look after
them. It's a very dark film based on a true story. It's the
first horror film that ever made me cry, and for that it
deserves to be my top pick of the year.

The Last Winter
: Director: Larry
Fessenden
Probably the most
intelligent horror movie ever made. The Last Winter is not far
from real life with it's plot. The film deal with many
economic, environmental and energy issues. It has the feel of
John Carpenters The Thing, but the whole film gives off this
eerie and dark feeling that keeps the mind thinking and makes
you feel very uncomfortable. It's psychologically scary
and will keep you thinking for days after the film ends. |
 |
3 |
The Mist : Director:
Frank Darabont
Another great horror film
based on a Stephen King novel. The Mist not only has the fun
of a scary horror film, but also deals with the human
condition and the will to survive and protect our children.
It also has a great fantasy element to it and is an overall
great monster movie. |
 |
4 |
Fido : Director:
Andrew Currie
A black comedy in which zombies
are enslaved to their human masters. Fido is a film that
deals with many social issues we face in society today, and
also looks at not only zombies as a bunch of savages but at
human beings as well. A very intelligent and entertaining
piece of cinema. |

Behind the Mask: The Rise of
Lesley Vernon
: Director: Scott
Glosserman I loved this film, simply because it
was a comedy take on the whole horror icon genre. I haven't
had so much fun watching a horror film like this in a while.
Great acting, great plot great everything. What held it in the
fifth spot however is my ever growing need for horror with a
meaning. While Behind the Mask may be one of the best
fictional based horror films I've seen in a while it didn't
have that horrific meaning I like in my horror films. |
 |
6 |
The Tripper: Director:
David Arquette
Politics and Horror, most of the time they do go hand
in hand. This film was fun and entertaining while
politically getting it's message across. I loved every second
of it. |
 |

1408
Director: Mikael
Håfström Who
say's you need gore and an R rating to be a great horror film?
Not this PG-13 flick based on the novella by Stephen King.
This film had all the scares and thrills of a classic horror
film.

Bug
: Director: William
Friedkin I understand
that a lot of people didn't like or get this horror film. The
fact of the matter is that it's not a horror film for
everyone. It has a very intelligent plot that deals with
truth and insanity. Are there really bugs or are the
characters in this film just crazy. Great acting and
directing, I don't think anyone could of pulled this script
off like Exorcist director William Friedkin did. |
 |
9 |
Driftwood
: Director: Tim Sullivan
Driftwood was a very personal
film for director Tim Sullivan, and I caught wind of the real
story he was trying to tell in Driftwood. It's a great ghost
story that deals with the issue of growing up and finding ones
self.

30 Days of Night
: Director:
David Slade
I've always said a good vampire film
these days is hard to come by. But when you put them in the
snow in a place that stays dark for thirty days and base it on
a very well received graphic novel; then you have yourself a
good film. A very well put together film that puts the
viewer right into the action.
