If I said it before, I'll say it again, Not only are independent horror films becoming on half dozen of the other, but so are horror comedies.  It's become a genre where you really need to make something original and great to really be noticed. Unfortunately for this film, The Cook it's just another cliché horror comedy that's no different from the hundred's of other indie horror comedies out there.

The Cook has a simple plot.  A sorority house hires a new cook from somewhere in northern Europe to cook them meals during the holiday weekend. The girls all play games, have sex, do drugs, drink and so on...  Little do they know that the cook they hired is really a blood thirsty cannibal who wacks each girl one by one and serves them to the other girls as all forms of food from steaks to hamburgers. When some of the girls notice that some of the others have gone missing, they learn that the cook is involved with their disappearances and learn the shocking truth behind what he has done with them.

I honestly was hoping this film would have a feel like motel hell, but instead I got just another dumb pointless horror story that was more focused on nude girls and drugs than it was about trying to move the plot forward and develop a real story.  Seriously the script was horrible and put the storytelling second to that of the good looking girls in the film. We get scenes full of pointless dialogue and sex, drugs and drinking and every once in a while the cook would just come in a off someone.  That's pretty much the plot in the nutshell, although it does get better towards the end of the film, but by then its to late.

The production value was pretty good. although the film takes place mainly in a simple location of the sorority house. The movie does have some pretty good gore and make-up effects. It's also filmed and edited pretty well. The acting in the movie is not all that great, but one thing the filmmakers at least did right was cast some very good looking girls.

Overall, Unless you really feel the need to watch a bunch of hot girls jump around and have sex. ( The film is limited to just some of the girls being topless). and maybe get a laugh or too from some of the horror references. Then maybe you'll like this film. But if your looking for a movie with a story this film does not have one. It's pretty much just another pointless horror comedy that we've seen some many times over.
