I did get to see King Kong in theaters, but I was still working on my house when the pre-screening became available to me, so I sent Zombielover to the New York Pre-screening to check out the flick first and review it for the site. So needless to say I got lucky when I was told by the people over at Universal that I would only be getting the bonus features for the DVD first, with a full DVD to be sent to me after the the DVD is put out in stores. They did this because of pirating reasons. Which in their case I agree, it was a smart move. Anyway pretty much if you wanted to know what the way I feel about the movie itself. well that's plan and simple, I loved everything about the film. I think Peter Jackson did a great job in retelling this classic story. My only problem is that I felt the film was too long and that most people would have trouble getting though the first half of the film. But that was about my only problem with the flick, other than that I loved this movie.

As far as the DVD features go, Well lets just say in my opinion, your getting your money's worth if your into documentaries about the making of the film.  The whole collectors edition DVD has a production diary of the making of the film, that is in fact almost a two hour documentary on the film itself. They have some cool concept about how the created some of the most memorable scenes in the film and so on...

So overall this DVD is a must for all "King Kong" and Peter Jackson fans. I also think most film students and filmmakers alike might pick up a thing or two watching the production diaries that this DVD has to offer. Well worth the buy in my opinion.
