When Sloe was little, her father
disappeared and she and her mother were sent to a snowy prison
camp in a time when everything was terrible and there were no
animals. Before their extinction Sloe's parents found a way to
preserve the DNA of five different groups of animals. Sloe's
mother possesses the "magical" powers to revive these animal DNA
in her science teachings. Sloe is sent to a prison school. She is
later expelled and must return to the dreadful camp. As she
returns to the prison camp she used to call home she discovers her
mother is gone. When her mother left her, she hid the powerful DNA
for Sloe to find. With the DNA Sloe must battle to preserve them.
Sloe sets out on a 1000-mile journey at the age of 13 with these
creatures and has to overcome many obstacles on her way to
reviving animal life.
With a pretty sci-fi feel to the
novel, Siberia is an outstanding weekend read. It also possesses
that nice heart-warming emotion for those animal lovers out there.
Yeah, yeah it doesn't seem like something that would be on a
Horror website, but it does have it's strong points. Ana Halam
does a great job in this novel adding it to the sci-fi/fantasy
category. Overall it was pretty damn good.
