"Beeper" is not by any means close to being a horror film.  In fact it's not even close.  What it is however is a psychological thriller.  The story revolves around Dr. Richard Avery, whom with his son travel to India so Richard can attend and speak at a few medical summits going on in the country.  During his visit he is unhappy with the women whom was picked to watch his son at the hotel while Richard goes to work. So in turn he brings his son with him, however things go terribly wrong when Richard's son Sam is kidnapped.  The story then evolves into a game involving a beeper.  In order for Richard to get his son back he must do whatever the beeper tells him do.  Well folks you get the point, the story gets more detailed than that, but I don't want to get into it.

I watched this film with my fiancé, the first thing she said to me about ten minutes into the film is that "This script is very poor".  She right, it was in fact a script that was not tight at all but rather all over the place.  So pieces of the plot were a bit twisty and did not make much sense at all.  However you will pretty much get the idea from watching the flick what's going on. The film does get better towards the end, but overall it's nothing great.

If there were any more of a reason for an actor to do a film for a paycheck, this was probably the reason here. I mean the performances were sometimes decent. I mean Harvey Keitel gave it his all playing the drug kingpin Zolo. But the rest of the cast performances were nothing to write home about.

I'm not even going to get into effects on this film. We petty much get one cool car chase which leads to one death where the guy is all bloody. So effects are not a big deal.

Overall, can't say this is a film I can recommend to the horror fans. Thriller fans might like it, but it's not worth paying  five bucks at the video store.
