"Satan's Little Helper" is one odd film.  Early reviews of the film were pretty good, yet I was unable to get my hand on a copy until it was released on DVD.  Well I heard mixed reviews about this film, most of them leaning towards the good side of the spectrum, However I myself found the film to be somewhat a fair movie.

The film is about a young boy named Douglas who is obsessed with playing a new video game happily titled: "Satan's Little Helper" The game revolves around being the helper of the devil himself, and the tactic behind the game is to avoid god and kill and hurt as many people as you can.  So on Halloween Douglas dresses up as Satan's Little Helper, however most of the neighborhoods kids think he's a freak and his sister whom is supposed to bring him trick or treating has bought a new boyfriend with her. Douglas, jealous and upset wishes Satan would come out of the video game and help him make things his way. Well the devil does show up and does help Douglas out with his problems however, Satan just won't stop killing people and when Douglas's family becomes threaten by the situation, Douglas is left begging to God to help him out.

The plot started off very simple, then towards the end the film started to get a little crazy. This is where  I felt the plot began to weaken, as I felt it got way to out of sync with trying to keep my attention. It also got confusing towards the end. I feel the same way as the script as I do the plot, as I felt the characters were made to be just as confused as the audience would be. The dialogue was a bit corny but it worked, as the film itself is made on the level of actually having that low budget, B-movie feel.

The acting just like the film has a low budget feel to it, so yes if your wondering the acting is funny and corny as well. I mean the actors in this film were good, yet they seemed all seemed annoying and fake at times, but from the wackiness of this film I believe that's the way the director intended them to be.

The effects in this film are pretty basic, we get some decent make-up effects, mainly the small times effects looked good, however there where some effects that looked very fake, such as the scene where the father gets gutted by Satan. But overall the film throws a B-movie feel at you, so I guess some half bad effects were needed.

Overall "Satan's Little Helper" is a dark horror comedy, that can be both scary and funny at the same time.  I found the films sarcastic religious overtones to be very funny, but the overall feel of the film and the way the film concluded, kind of left me mixed about the movie. I think this film is one that only the viewer can decide if they would like it or not.
