If you dug the style and flare of RATS:NIGHT OF TERROR and NIGHT OF THE ZOMBIES (HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD), then in a pretty damn good way, you’ll crush with this one also. Only woman in prison style, as if the title didn’t already announce that one coming from a mile away. Starring our old friend Laura Gemser, the Emanuelle. The real thing. Thrown in prison for being someone else’s scapegoat. Trapped against her will and to make matters worse, the prison is a sadistic one. Emanuelle is not giving up on any hope, she will fight to the bitter end, even if she has to kill for her life. In comes a few more inmates, this time men, and the only ones to come to think of it. Awaiting their execution, they break free and take over the prison. Blood flows and bodies lay. Sadism and lesbianism ensues the entire flick, with of course, a Euro flare. Especially with Emanuelle, the sleaze queen herself (MAKE THEM DIE SLOWLY, EROTIC NIGHTS OF THE LIVING DEAD). This flick was made back to back with VIOLENCE IN A WOMENS PRISON, Mattei’s other prison sleazer. The best feature about this flick, and I can’t stress this enough is the superb soundtrack laid out by Luigi Ceccarelli. RATS and CAGED WOMEN to be my highlights. Pure funk jazzercise of the Italian kind. That made the flick to the fullest. I’ll leave the movie on and do the dishes. That’s how much I need to listen to the music. Freakin great job. This is the first time we’ve seen this flick in a 16/9 transfer from the 35 mm print. Outstanding look. Some retro shock trailers and a little bio from 42nd Street Pete. What’s up man? It certainly is a great grind classic.
