SYNOPSIS: From the land that brought
us RINGU (The Ring) comes UZUMAKI (Spiral). The inhabitants of a
small Japanese seaside town come under the influence of a strange
force that causes an obsession with spiral forms. One by one, the
townspeople fall under its spell. The horror manifesting itself in
different ways, its geometric pattern giving snails, food, and even
the swirl of fingerprints an eerie quality that drives the
inhabitants of Kurozou gradually insane. Kirie, a young schoolgirl,
is the first to notice the strange behavior in friends and neighbors
and is powerless to prevent the obsession that is overwhelming
everyone around her. In one or two cases the victims fall prey to
the spiral through their own weaknesses — a student who is always
late to school starts exhibiting signs of unnatural snail-like
growths on his body, while another exhibitionist student finds
herself the centre of a spiral of attention. Eventually the
townspeople begin descending on a self-inflicted and
self-perpetuating spiral of terror.
MY REVIEW OF "Uzumaki (Spiral)": This was a pretty cool yet very weird horror film. It has a very original story that is far beyond most people's imagination. The story as told above is about a girl whom lives in a town where people are becoming obsessed with any kind of object that has a spiral form and how their own weaknesses in life affect their obsessions. The plot is kind of odd and hard to understand at first as the story is slowly pieced together as it moves along, It's weird in fact that it will keep your attention. The acting is very good as with most Asian horror film's The effects are really good, we get a lot of gore but not so much that your grossed out by it. their are also some very good CGI effects, that will really creep you out. Overall it's a twisted film with a great story that a lot of time and hard work went into. Rent it, or Buy it, it's a DVD every horror fan should own.
