| "King of the Ants" had a limited theatrical release and was part of many film festivals last year. The film is amazing accomplishment by director Stewart Gordon. Although considered a horror film by many people, mainly due to the gore and some crazy monstrous scenes, King of the Ants has more of a "Reservoir Dogs" feel to it. there is a lot of straight up violence, which includes beatings, lots and lots of people being beat, most of them to death and some to near death. The scenes are at time unbearable, a few times I had a hard time watching. The acting is pretty good and the script, although odd and bloody was not bad. At times the story did get a little confusing but it eventually all comes together for the most part. In a word the plot was very basic but it was reasonable. The effects were great, lot's of gore and blood to go around. I think more than anything though was the directing that of course was wonderful, Production Value could of been a bit better, but it worked for this kind of move. Overall it's a strange and bizarre film, very blood and gory, not everyone might like it, but I thought it was good and I'd say it's a film for the hardcore horror fans and fans of film like "Reservoir Dogs". well worth renting or buying if you fit into one of the above fan bases.
