Of course being of sound mind and sturdy mental balance, I am equipped to handle most which is thrown at me in terms of cinematic offences. When I first witnessed Nacho Cerda’s Aftermath or Jorge’s Nekromatik, I was I was in awestruck with the use of necrophilias and perversion. Same goes for Cannibal Holocaust or Make Them Die Slowly, depravity way beyond my metal capacity but expected because I was already struck with a savage nerve from the get go anyways. Then this falls in my lap and ohhhhh man, what have I gotten myself into. It’s bad enough for me to sit through some crazy Nazi experiments but when children perversion comes into play then we are talking about a whole new ballgame. Sure it’s been slightly touched upon in films but none has been graphically detailed to this extent. So when you finish watching the movie and you actually feel dirty, you just don’t have a gratifying sensation. You are left to crawl underneath that little ga ga blanket you hold and curl up and cry to mommy. You are literally left to confess your sins after watching In A Glass Cage.

Klaus (Gunter Meisner) was once a savage and distasteful ex-Nazi doctor during the war, who had the unfortunate ability to persuade boys into evil experiments which included pedophilic crimes upon them. It’s hard for me to even talk about it. After the war was long over he retreated to Spain for some solidarity and hopefully reclaim what little morals he had left with his new family. Not lasting long, a fight against his will brought him to commit an unsuccessful suicide attempt and perish inside the likes of an iron lung. Now that he is subjected to the lung, his Wife and daughter are left to help him in his last troubling years. Klaus is soon introduced to Angelo, a persuasive boy who pretty well commits himself to Klaus as his new nurse. Klaus fights with his wife about the boy since some strange occurrences ensue as his stay becomes more and more self indulgent which leads him to ensure strong feelings for him. Soon after that, Angelo becomes what we would call deeply rooted to Klaus‘ distasteful background and the acts of degradation begin. Not wanting to go back to his old ways, Angelo [pleases him and shows that there is still life in the young boy sex acts which apparently Klaus does not seem to mind. The scenes in which Angelo loads himself onto his face are actually some of the most disturbing visuals to ever grace an art shocker, or any film for that matter. Angelo catches wind of his old time diary and soon the fond memories of savagery begin and the killings start once again. Thanks to Angelo’s haunting desires for perversion. The killings begins and depicted in ways you never thought would be imagined. A downward spiral continues and soon Angelo takes control of the household and terror runs amok.

I honestly cannot continue just for the fact that so much degradation is involved I this movie that it is hard to talk about it at all. In spurts yes, in elongated detail-NO. You’ll just have to watch it for yourself to maybe enjoy this style of wretched behavior. The movie is fantastic in a sense of style and flare. Unreal compositions enable the film to flare up the sexual tension and mischievous perversion. A film not many would understand, but to some, a footnote in artistic value. If you want to call it that.
