The funny thing about this flick is I know it inside out, especially it being a kid movie. Since I have a 5 year old, I want him to experience pg rated fright fests so when this one was offered I jumped on the opportunity, to see what my son Craven thinks about it also. He loves his Goosebumps and Are You Afraid Of The Dark episodes. Even the Tales From The Cryptkeeper, like father like son. “Well bro, lets try I Downloaded A Ghost”. I must have watched this movie 20 or more times after that initial viewing with him. I don’t think I’ve watched Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things that many times and I love that movie. Since he’s watched it that many times then it surely has something good about it right?

It starts off with a shy as heck Comedian named Winston (Carlos Alazraqui (Reno 911, The Godson)) looking to break into the world of the jokesters, but always too nervous that the audience thinks he stinks so he never goes through with it. The night he finally muster up some kahonas, unsuspecting thieves hop into his cab and off they go. When the car is stopped by the police (you can tell this is a mind numbing kids movie), the bad guys take off before the cops show up and poor old Winston is left for the nabbing. Off he runs into oncoming traffic and wammo, a bus exposes of the witless wonder. I guess you could call him an unsettled spirit with many jokes waiting to thrill minor audiences. Switches to a young Stella (surely a fan of monsters and ghouls. You should see her shop in the garage, Rick Baker would poop his pants) searching the internet for some new ideas to boost up her haunted house which she enters for the Halloween contest. While on her web traveling she comes across a site about, you guessed it. Downloading a ghost. Before you know it, silly and laughable Winston gets zapped to her garage and the quest begins to find the missing gold feline statue that the cops said Winston stole. Now it’s up to Stella, her friend Albert and Winston to find the crooks and whoever else might be involved. A truly gripping on the edge of your seat thrill ride for the youngsters. Since the burglars are a great Laurel and Hardy tag team of stupidity. My little buddy busts a gut with certain parts. All in all the teams get into all kinds of mischief and make-up for a howling good time.

That surely rates up there for a kids pleasured viewing. It’s especially neat when the movie itself is almost like a stepping ladder of some sort, a bond between a kid and yourself. A step by step on how to kind of do make-up and the building and construction of a D.I.Y. haunted house, have them realize what it really is. After all, they are the ones we have to look after and make aware that it’s all make believe, right?
